Our mission is to embrace with love our neighbors and enemies, as well as the strangers we meet; to embody in hope the good news of the Kingdom of God; and to encounter by faith the Father of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

EMBRACE

Because God in Christ has embraced us, it is our mission to live with and for others, with arms open, vulnerably hospitable, so others may experience the transforming love of God as we have.

  • We commit, therefore, to “be there,” for we cannot serve others if we are not first present.
  • We commit not merely to being present, but to being fully present, ready to give and to receive, as is fit.
  • We commit to being hospitable, going out of our way to make others feel “at home” with us.
  • We commit to being authentically friendly.
  • We commit to being quick to help others, to see and see to their needs as if they were our own.
  • We commit to settling down, rooting ourselves amidst this community and among these people, and allowing ourselves time to learn what God expects from us and has prepared for us.
  • We commit to do this at all times, whether we are gathered together or not.

EMBODY

Because Jesus Christ embodies God’s future for all creation, it is our mission to flesh out the Gospel, so our lives, being more and more conformed to Christ, become means of God’s grace.

  • We commit, therefore, to be spiritual people, people of prayer and meditation; praise and celebration, fasting and giving.
  • We commit to thinking through what the Gospel means for us and what it demands of us, and to submitting ourselves as best we can to Christ’s claims on our lives.
  • We commit to simple, concrete obedience of Christ.
  • We commit to meet together, formally and informally, to help one another in this shared pursuit of Christ-likeness.

ENCOUNTER

Because in Jesus Christ we have encountered the living God, it is our mission to do whatever we can to help others do the same, whether they are seeking a God they have not (yet) found, or wrestling with a God by whom they already have been found.

  • We commit to gather together regularly to worship God, to read and teach the Scriptures that lead us to Christ, to pray for one another, to share and to give generously, and to participate in the Eucharist meal.
  • We commit to be worshipful people, living in reverent awe and deep joy before God.
  • We commit to listen to others talk about their relationship with God, and, as necessary, to share with them what we have come to know about God.
  • We commit to living Pentecostally, in the power of the Spirit, who leads us and sustains us in and for Christ and our neighbor.
