Prayer for Second Nature

Lord, soften our hearts in this moment. Remove the callousness of busy lives of worry that numb us to your Spirit's touch. Lord, give us the sensitivity through your Spirit to imagine and portray the truth of our death to ourselves. May we reconfigure our lives to embody your interpretation of who we are. Lord, give us strength as individuals and as your body to be living images of the truth of God's Kingdom. May we acquire and enact a second nature, a new self, which rather than drawing attention to us, draws attention to you. May those who view our lives see the Character of Christ. May the shadows of our lives be lost in the light of the Son as we work together to establish your Kingdom on Earth. -Michael Wilson (5-24-09)

Divine Life Theology of Worship

Worship is the necessary, intentional, and disciplined response of both the community and the individual to the Trinity as Creator, Judge, and Redeemer.

This response requires participation in Christian community: celebration of God and His work, profession of the faith, confession of sin, and loving service to one another.

This response also requires involvement in the world at large; it is our joy to sow love, champion justice, awaken hope and faith. We are to be instruments of peace by word and act in the name of Christ.

For this reason, we gather on Sunday evenings to sing and pray together, to take Communion, to hear and respond to the preached Word.

For this reason we gather in small groups on Wednesday evenings for fellowship, instruction, ministry, and outreach.
